  • Job (Again)

I just got back from a little adventure into DC to find where the Federal Trade Commission is actually located.  The trip went as such:

    1.  Drive to Greenbelt Metro Station (I had to deal with I-95/495 traffic, but it wasn't too bad)
    2.  Get on the green line
    3.  Get off at Archives
    4.  Walk like half a block to get to the FTC building

It's a long trip, but I don't really mind the metro.  Only parts that kind of suck are waking up early and having to drive through rush-hour traffic.  I haven't yet had a chance to experience this in the afternoon/evening, but I hear it's much worse.

Regardless, I'm extremely excited for this job.  It's a great chance for me to get better acquainted with DC, somewhere that's always been close but I've never really seen a lot of.  While I was looking for the FTC, I explored a little bit, and found that on one side of the building, there are tons of offices, restaurants, etc. and on the other side there are tons of monuments, museums, memorials, and other government buildings.  The National Archives and the Justice Department are literally right next to where I'm going to work.  Also, my office building looks sweet.  It has these huge pillars on the sides, and the front has two large statues of horses with (naked) men pulling them back.

Honestly, I'm expecting all of this excitement to die down after a week or two on the job, but for now I'm happy.
